The Mountain Man
On the mountain up high,
near the clear bright blue sky,
and close to the light I do dwell.
But, for those that I love,
I will leave my home high above
and descend to the darkness of hell.
I’d rather stay here,
at this peak near the sun,
for toil and torment’s no fun.
But those whom I love,
having seen my darkness from above,
lack faith now to see me in light.
So to the many instead,
I’ll come in the fullest of light,
and with faith some will not look away.
But first let me venture,
to the few that are mine,
to light fires for them in the night.
And when I come from up high
I leave much light behind,
for I mean to give sight not to blind.
And with you will I dwell,
among the perils of hell,
that you may believe, even here, there is light.
But I must soon walk alone,
and return to my home,
where on high I am as bright as can be.
And in the fullness of light,
all but I will turn blind,
as here only I can see.
But this is my home,
in the mountains up high,
and here with the All I am One.
But from light into darkness,
I’ll come back for you,
I am the light of the world.
So back and forth do I go,
from my home up high in the snow
to the darkened, wet woods of the world.
Yes, I’ll come back for you,
this once and much more,
until the day your darkness is done.
And on this day soon,
you’ll see me, I’ll see you
for on this day, we will be ONE.
